What changes when you convert
JPG is usually far smaller than PNG for photos and screenshots of photos: a 5 MB PNG photo often becomes a 0.5–1 MB JPG at the high quality used here. Transparent areas become white, because JPG has no transparency.
When to keep PNG
Keep PNG for logos, icons and graphics with transparent backgrounds or sharp text, where JPG can show slight blur around edges.

Will the image lose quality?
