Why convert JPG to PNG here

Your photos stay private: they are decoded and re-encoded by your own browser and never sent to a server. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no account.

Camera and location data (EXIF) is not copied into the PNG, so the images you share don't reveal where they were taken.

What changes when you convert JPG to PNG

PNG is lossless, so the image won't lose any more quality, but converting can't restore detail that JPG compression already removed. Expect a much larger file: a 3–4 MB phone photo often becomes a 12–20 MB PNG.

For photos you only want to share, JPG is usually the better format. PNG is the right choice when you will edit an image many times, need an exact copy of a screenshot or graphic, or a website or app asks for PNG.

Transparency and size limits

Converting doesn't make the background transparent. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background.

Very large images, such as 48-megapixel photos from recent phones, can be too big for some phone browsers to convert. A computer handles them reliably.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG stores the image without further loss, but the detail JPG compression discarded is gone. The PNG looks the same as the JPG, just in a larger file.

Why is the PNG so much bigger than the JPG?

JPG throws away detail the eye barely notices to keep files small; PNG keeps every pixel exactly. For photos that usually means a PNG 3–6 times the size of the JPG.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to us or anyone else.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Select or drop several JPGs; each one is converted in turn, and you can download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
