Scan a QR code from an image or your camera

Read a QR code from a photo or screenshot, or point your camera at it. Links are shown with their address before you open them, and nothing is uploaded.

QR codes are read on this device. We don't see, store or log your images, the camera picture or what the codes contain.

How it works

  1. Choose a photo or screenshot with the QR code, or paste it (Ctrl+V or long-press → Paste).
  2. Or tap Scan with camera and hold the code in view; the camera stops as soon as it's read.
  3. Read the result: open a link, copy a Wi-Fi password or the text, or check an invoice's details.

Scan a QR code that's already on your screen

A QR code in a screenshot, a PDF, an email or a WhatsApp image can't be scanned with the same phone's camera. Save or screenshot it and choose the image here: the code is found anywhere in the picture, even at an angle, and photos are read from up to 1,600 pixels on the long side, which is plenty for a code that fills a tenth of the image.

Check links before you open them

A QR code can lead anywhere, and fake codes stuck over real ones on parking meters and posters are a known scam. The scanner never opens a link by itself: it shows the full address and the site's name first, and only opens it when you tap. Codes for Wi-Fi networks show the network name and password with a Copy button, and other text is shown as it is.

Saudi e-invoice QR codes

Tax invoices in Saudi Arabia carry a QR code with the seller's name, VAT registration number (15 digits), invoice date and time, total with VAT, and the VAT amount, as set by ZATCA. The scanner reads these into a short table, so you can check them against the printed invoice. It doesn't verify the digital signature that phase-2 invoices add; use ZATCA's official tools for that.

Frequently asked questions

Is the camera image or my photo uploaded?

No. The code is read in your browser, the camera picture never leaves your device, and the camera turns off as soon as a code is found or you leave the page.

Why does the camera button not work?

Your browser asks for camera permission the first time; if it was refused, allow the camera for this site in the browser's settings, or choose a photo instead. The camera needs a secure (https) page, which this is.

Can it read barcodes on products?

No, only QR codes. Product barcodes (EAN, UPC) are a different kind of code.

Why was no QR code found?

The code may be too small, blurred or cut off. Crop the picture closer to the code or take a sharper photo, with the whole code and a little white border visible.
