PNG to ICO / favicon

Turn a PNG logo into a multi-size website icon. Check small-size previews, choose how the artwork fits and optionally download the complete favicon package.

Your image and captions are processed on this device and never uploaded. We do not see, store or log your files.

How it works

  1. Choose a PNG logo or image.
  2. Choose Fit whole image or Fill and crop, and set transparent padding from 0% to 40%.
  3. Check the 16, 32 and 48 pixel previews. Select the favicon package if you need website assets.
  4. Choose Create icon and download the ICO or ZIP package.

Six sizes in one ICO

The ICO contains PNG-backed 32-bit images at 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixels. Modern browsers and Windows support PNG-backed icons; this tool does not generate legacy uncompressed BMP icon entries.

Readable small icons

A detailed 1000 pixel logo may be unreadable at 16 pixels. Prefer a simple symbol, strong contrast and generous transparent margins. Fit whole image preserves the artwork. Fill and crop cuts the longer edges to fill the square.

Website package

The ZIP includes favicon.ico, 16 and 32 pixel PNGs, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 pixel Android icons, site.webmanifest and a favicon.html link snippet. Place the files in your website root or adjust the relative paths. The manifest declares ordinary icons, not maskable safe-area artwork.

Transparency and privacy

Transparent PNG areas stay transparent. Generated images contain the rendered artwork without camera metadata. No file is uploaded and no account is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a rectangular PNG?

Yes. Fit whole image adds transparent space, while Fill and crop trims the longer edges. The small previews show how the selected fit and padding work.

Does the ZIP install my favicon automatically?

No. Add the files to your site, copy the HTML links into the document head and check the relative paths. Browsers may cache a previous favicon.

Will the ICO work in old Windows applications?

The generated ICO uses PNG-backed images for modern browsers and Windows. Applications requiring legacy BMP icon entries may not support it.
