Make a poster from one PDF page or image

Enlarge a selected PDF page or still image across multiple A4 or Letter sheets. Set the poster width or percentage scale, allow overlap for assembly and save a printable PDF.

Your source stays on this device. Inspection and poster creation run locally in your browser without uploading document or image contents.

How it works

  1. Choose one static PDF or JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or HEIC still image.
  2. Select a PDF page, then set the poster width or scale and paper size.
  3. Choose printer margins and overlap; check the numbered assembly grid.
  4. Create the PDF and print at Actual size or 100%, then trim and join the sheets.

One page becomes several sheets

This tool enlarges one selected source page and cuts the layout into a row-by-row grid. It does not put several source pages on one sheet. A4 is 210 × 297 mm; Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm. With 10 mm margins, each A4 sheet has 190 × 277 mm of printable content. A 500 mm wide poster therefore needs at least three columns. The number of rows depends on the source proportions.

Overlap, cut marks and assembly

Overlap repeats a narrow strip of artwork on neighbouring sheets. With 5 mm overlap and a 190 mm printable width, the next column begins 185 mm after the previous one. Sheet labels use row-column numbering, starting at 1-1 in the top left. Cut marks and labels appear only when margins are at least 3 mm. The preview shows the assembly grid, not the source artwork. Keep overlap smaller than the printable width and height.

Print at actual size

Choose the matching paper size and Actual size or 100% in the printer dialog. Fit to page changes the planned poster dimensions. Print one test sheet first and measure a known feature before printing the whole poster. Width mode preserves source proportions; scale mode uses the source PDF dimensions. Still images use a 96-pixel-per-inch baseline in scale mode, so width mode is better when you need a physical size.

Supported files and limits

Existing PDF text and vector graphics remain PDF content. Scans and still images remain raster artwork and may look soft when enlarged. Animated images, multi-image HEIC files and unsupported encodings should be converted to a still image first. PDFs with forms, links, annotations, signatures, bookmarks, layers, tagged structure, attachments or advanced document actions are blocked because these features cannot be preserved. Metadata is not copied. The output is limited to 100 sheets on phones or low-memory devices and 200 sheets on larger devices, plus the device's memory budget; try a smaller poster or split a large source document.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a page other than the first page?

Yes. Enter the page number after the source has been checked. Only that page appears in the poster.

Does this preserve selectable PDF text?

Existing text remains embedded PDF content rather than a screenshot. This tool does not recognise text in scanned pages.

Why are parts of the image repeated?

The overlap setting deliberately repeats a strip on adjacent sheets to help align and tape them together. Set overlap to zero for edge-to-edge tiles.

Can I make a borderless poster?

You can set zero margins, but many printers cannot print to the paper edge. Use margins supported by your printer and test a sheet first.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Source inspection and PDF creation run in a worker on this device. Your files are not sent to a conversion server.
