Work out your grade
Find out what you need on the final exam to finish with the grade you want, or how you're doing so far when assignments, quizzes and midterms count for different shares of the course.

How it works
- Choose Final exam needed or Current grade.
- Enter your current grade, the final's weight and your target, or your scores with their weights.
- Read the result.
Why use this calculator
It answers the two questions students ask most, in percentages that work with any grading scale, and nothing you type leaves your device.
Score needed on the final
Needed = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. With 78% so far, a final worth 30% and a target of 80%, you need (80 − 78 × 0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 84.7% on the final. If the answer is over 100%, the target can't be reached with the final alone; if it's 0% or less, you already have it.
Weighted current grade
Each score counts in proportion to its weight. Homework 90% worth 20% and a midterm 80% worth 30% give (90 × 20 + 80 × 30) ÷ 50 = 84% on the half of the course graded so far. Weights don't have to add up to 100%, as long as they aren't more.

Frequently asked questions
What if my course uses points instead of percentages?
Turn each score into a percentage first (score ÷ maximum × 100), then enter it.
Can I convert my grade to a letter?
Letter cut-offs differ by school; check your syllabus. Many US schools use 90% for an A, 80% for a B and 70% for a C.
Is this the same as GPA?
No. GPA averages grade points across courses; use the GPA calculator for that.
Are my grades stored?
No. Everything is calculated on your device.
