Convert AVIF images to JPG

Images saved from websites are often AVIF, which many apps and upload forms can't open. Turn them into JPG files that open anywhere. The conversion runs on your device, so your images are never uploaded.

Your images are processed on this device and never uploaded. We don't see, store or log your files.

How it works

  1. Tap Choose files and pick one or more AVIF images, or drop them onto the page.
  2. Tap Convert to JPG. Each image is converted on your device.
  3. Download each JPG, all of them as a ZIP, or tap Share.

Why convert AVIF here

Your images are converted by your own browser and never sent to a server. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.

Why AVIF files won't open

AVIF is a newer format that packs photos into small files. Chrome, Edge and Firefox show it, and Safari from iOS 16 and macOS Ventura, but many apps don't: older Photoshop versions, Windows Photos without the AV1 extension, Office documents and a lot of upload forms. Converting gives you a file that opens everywhere.

What you get

Each image becomes a full-size JPG at quality 90, which looks the same as the original at normal sizes. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white; convert to PNG to keep them. Expect the JPG to be larger than the AVIF, often around twice the size, because AVIF compresses better. You can convert up to 20 images at a time on a phone, 50 on a tablet and 100 on a computer.

Frequently asked questions

Will the image lose quality?

Hardly. The AVIF is decoded and saved again at JPG quality 90, which looks the same at normal sizes.

Can I convert animated AVIF?

Only the first frame is converted, as a still JPG.

Which is better, AVIF to PNG or to JPG?

JPG for photos you share or upload; PNG for logos, screenshots and images with transparency.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device.
