Add up weekly work hours and breaks
Enter multiple shifts, subtract unpaid break minutes and total the hours. Start with seven rows, leave unused shifts blank or add more, up to 31 shifts.
Calculations and CSV creation run locally in your browser. Entered labels, times and rates are not uploaded by this tool.
How it works
- Enter start and end clock times for each worked shift. An optional day or date label helps identify each row.
- Enter whole unpaid break minutes. For a shift ending the next day, explicitly select the next-day option.
- Add or remove rows as needed. Optionally enter one gross hourly rate for all worked minutes.
- Read per-shift and total hours, then copy the summary or download per-shift minutes as CSV.
Add daily hours without rounding drift
Times are converted to integer minutes. Each shift’s unpaid break is subtracted before the minutes are summed, and only then is the total converted to decimal hours. Five 09:00–17:30 shifts with 30-minute breaks total 2400 minutes, or 40:00 hours and 40 decimal hours. Three 20-minute shifts total exactly 1 hour, even though each decimal value rounds to 0.3333 hours.
Overnight shifts and blank rows
A 22:00–06:00 shift needs the explicit next-day checkbox. With a 30-minute break, it totals 7:30 hours. An end before the start without next-day selected is invalid. Equal start and end times mean zero elapsed minutes, or 24 hours when next-day is selected. Shifts longer than 24 hours and breaks longer than the elapsed shift are rejected. Rows with no times, no break and no next-day selection are ignored, even if they have a label.
Basic gross pay, not payroll rules
An optional hourly rate multiplies total minutes divided by 60. Gross pay is rounded to two decimal places at the end; the rate must be between zero and one million. The currency is a display label, not an exchange conversion. This estimate does not apply overtime, differentials, taxes, deductions, paid-break rules or jurisdiction-specific payroll rules. CSV lists the entered clock times, next-day flag, break minutes and worked minutes; it is not a payroll-compliance report.
Clock arithmetic and its limits
Day labels are descriptive text, not dates used in a calendar calculation. This tool does not account for time zones, daylight-saving changes, overlapping shifts or calendar-day attendance. It adds each entered row independently. Decimal hours are displayed to four fractional digits; hours:minutes and integer-minute totals remain exact for valid inputs.

Frequently asked questions
What happens across midnight?
Select End is on the next day for that shift. The calculator adds 24 hours to the end clock time, then subtracts the start and break. The elapsed interval must not exceed 24 hours.
Can I leave days blank?
Yes. Rows without times, break minutes or next-day selection are ignored. A partially entered time row must be completed or removed before a total is shown.
Does this calculate overtime pay?
No. The optional basic gross-pay estimate uses one hourly rate for every worked minute. It does not decide overtime eligibility, rates or legal payroll requirements.
Does it account for daylight-saving transitions?
No. These are clock-time intervals without dated time zones. Use an appropriate dated payroll or timekeeping system for actual elapsed time through clock changes.
What does the CSV contain?
One row per completed shift with its optional label, start, end, next-day flag (1 or 0), break minutes, worked minutes and decimal hours rounded to four places. Worked minutes are the exact total to use for further calculations.
