Hourly to Salary Calculator

Convert an hourly rate to annual gross pay, or work backwards from a yearly salary. Set your own working hours and paid weeks instead of assuming everyone works the same schedule.

Everything runs in your browser on this device. Your files and calculations are never uploaded, stored or logged.

How it works

  1. Choose hourly rate or annual salary as your starting amount.
  2. Enter gross pay and select a display currency.
  3. Set hours worked per paid week and the number of paid weeks per year.
  4. Read or copy the annual, hourly, monthly and weekly results.

Hourly pay to annual salary

Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per paid week × paid weeks per year. At 25 per hour, 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks, annual gross pay is 52,000. At 48 paid weeks it is 48,000. Paid leave counts as paid weeks; unpaid leave does not.

Monthly and weekly averages

Monthly average is annual gross pay divided by 12 calendar months. The paid-week value divides by your chosen paid weeks; the calendar-week average divides by 52. For 48,000 across 48 paid weeks, a paid week is 1,000, while the 52-week calendar average is about 923.08.

Gross pay and display currency

These are gross amounts before tax, pension contributions, insurance and other deductions. There are no overtime multipliers, benefits or bonuses. Selecting a currency changes number formatting only; no exchange rate or currency conversion is applied.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate an hourly rate from salary?

Divide annual gross salary by hours per week multiplied by paid weeks per year. A 52,000 salary at 40 hours and 52 paid weeks gives 25 per hour.

Should I enter 52 weeks if I take vacation?

Include paid vacation and paid holidays. Subtract weeks only when they are unpaid. This calculator uses a 52-week year for its calendar-week average.

Does monthly pay match my payslip?

The result is an annual average divided by 12. Actual monthly payroll amounts can differ because of your contract, pay periods or variable hours.

Does this calculate take-home pay?

No. It estimates gross pay only, without taxes, deductions or local payroll rules.
