How it works
- Today's Hijri date appears at the top as soon as the page opens.
- Choose Gregorian to Hijri, or Hijri to Gregorian.
- Pick a Gregorian date, or type the Hijri day and year and choose the month.
- Read the converted date with its weekday, and copy or share it.
Why use this converter
It works instantly on your phone or computer, even offline once loaded, with nothing to install and no sign-up. The calendar data is the Umm al-Qura table built into your browser, the same one used by Saudi government services, so results match official Saudi dates.
How the Hijri calendar differs
A Hijri month follows the moon and has 29 or 30 days, so a Hijri year has 354 or 355 days, about 11 days fewer than a Gregorian year. That is why Ramadan starts about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year: 1 Ramadan 1447 is 18 February 2026, and 1 Ramadan 1448 is 8 February 2027. The year 1447 has 355 days on the Umm al-Qura calendar. The converter covers the years 1300 to 1600 AH (1882 to 2174 CE).
Moon sighting can shift a date by a day
Umm al-Qura is a calculated calendar. Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia's religious authorities announce Ramadan, Eid and other months by local moon sighting, so their date can be one day later (occasionally earlier) than the Umm al-Qura date shown here. For religious dates, follow the announcement in your country.
