Make a photo contact sheet

Arrange photos on fixed-size proof sheets for reviewing or printing. Choose a grid and paper size, keep the whole photo in view and export a paginated PDF.

Your files stay on this device. Processing runs locally in a browser worker without uploading or logging their contents.

How it works

  1. Choose JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC/HEIF still photos. Animated files are not supported.
  2. Use the file-list move controls to set the photo order.
  3. Choose A4 or US Letter paper, rows and columns, and optional numeric image labels. Check the page-layout preview.
  4. Create and download the PDF. Open it in a PDF viewer to inspect the photographs and print at actual size.

Contact sheet or collage?

A contact sheet is a series of small photo proofs on fixed-size pages. This tool paginates the grid rather than stretching all photos onto one continuous canvas. It is useful for choosing favourites or discussing numbered images. Use Merge Photos when you want a single combined image instead.

Choose A4 or US Letter

A4 pages measure 210 × 297 mm; US Letter pages measure 8.5 × 11 inches. Both use portrait orientation, a 24-point outer margin and an 8-point gap between cells. Rows and columns range from 1 to 8. For example, 25 photos in a 4-row by 5-column layout produce two pages: 20 photos on the first and five on the second.

Full photos with optional numbers

Every thumbnail fits inside its cell without cropping or stretching. Empty space remains when the photo and cell proportions differ. Optional labels use the image position in the ordered file list: 1, 2, 3 and so on. Filenames are not printed, so long names and unsupported filename glyphs cannot replace or obscure a label. The preview shows numbered positions for checking pagination even when printed labels are turned off.

Thumbnail quality and printing

Images are decoded one at a time and reduced to at most 1000 pixels on their longest side before embedding. This is a proof-sheet export, not a full-resolution archive or a guaranteed print DPI. Small source photos are not enlarged during thumbnail preparation. The PDF viewer may scale a thumbnail to fill its cell; inspect the downloaded PDF before printing. Print at actual size to retain the selected paper geometry.

Local processing with bounded memory

File count, combined input bytes, decoded image pixels, page count and retained output are limited for the device. Images are processed sequentially, but embedded thumbnails and the final PDF still require memory. Choose fewer or smaller photos if a job is rejected. Transparent image areas remain transparent in the PDF and normally appear over the viewer’s white page.

Frequently asked questions

Will the contact sheet crop my photos?

No. Each photo uses contain-fit and keeps its proportions; unused space remains around it.

Can I print filenames?

This version prints optional numeric image indices only. The ordered file list lets you match those numbers to the original files.

Why is the preview only a layout diagram?

The diagram checks positions and page counts without decoding every photo twice. Open the exported PDF to inspect the actual photo proofs.

Can I remove the labels?

Yes. Choose No printed labels. The layout preview still shows image indices to make ordering clear.

Are the originals changed or uploaded?

No. The tool reads local copies and builds a new PDF in your browser. Keep the originals separately for full-resolution use.
