Blur part of a photo before you share it
Mark the faces, number plates, names or numbers you want hidden, then blur them or cover them with a black box. Everything happens on your device, so the original never leaves it.
Your photo is changed on this device and never uploaded. We don't see, store or log your files.
How it works
- Tap Choose file, or Take photo on a phone, and add a JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF photo.
- Move and resize the box over what you want to hide; tap Add area for more.
- Choose Blur or Black box, and Strong for faces and text.
- Tap Blur image, then Download or Share the new photo.
Why blur photos here
Most online blur tools upload your photo first, which defeats the point when it shows a child's face, an ID card or a home address. Here the photo is opened and changed by your own browser, and nothing is sent anywhere. There's no watermark and no account.
Blur or black box
Blur keeps the photo looking natural and is enough for faces and backgrounds. For text and numbers, such as card, account, passport or phone numbers, use a black box: blurred text can sometimes be guessed back, especially short numbers in a known format, while a black box removes the pixels completely. The blur strength grows with the area, about 7% (Normal) or 15% (Strong) of its smaller side, so a small face and a large one are equally hidden.
What else to check before sharing
Reflections in windows, glasses and screens can show what you hid, and photos can carry the place they were taken in hidden data. This tool doesn't copy that location data (EXIF) into the new photo; for other photos, use Remove Photo Metadata. The result is a new file: keep the original if you may need it later, because blurring can't be undone.
Frequently asked questions
Can blurring be reversed?
Not from the new photo: the original pixels are replaced. But a weak blur over large text may still be readable, so use Strong or a black box for anything sensitive.
Does it find faces automatically?
No. You choose exactly what to hide, so nothing is missed by a detector and no face analysis runs on your photo.
Can I blur part of a PDF?
For documents, use Redact PDF, which removes the hidden text from the file itself, not just its look.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device.
