Calculate your zakat
Add up your cash, gold, silver, business stock and money owed to you, subtract debts due now, and see whether you've reached the nisab and how much zakat is due. You enter today's prices, so it works in any currency.
Calculations run on this device. We don't see, store or log the numbers you enter.
How it works
- Choose the nisab basis: silver or gold.
- Type today's price per gram of gold and silver in your currency (from a local jeweller or news site).
- Enter your cash and bank balances, gold and silver in grams, business stock, money owed to you, and debts due now.
- Read your zakatable wealth, the nisab and the zakat due.
How zakat is calculated
Zakat is 2.5% of zakatable wealth that you have held for one lunar (Hijri) year, if it is at or above the nisab. The nisab is the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. With silver at 250 a gram, the nisab is 153,090; net wealth of 250,000 then owes 6,250 in zakat (2.5%). Debts due now are subtracted before comparing with the nisab.
Silver or gold nisab?
Silver gives a much lower nisab (612.36 g × price) than gold (87.48 g × price), so more people pay zakat and more reaches those in need; many organisations, such as Islamic Relief, recommend it. With gold at 20,000 a gram, the gold nisab is 1,749,600, over eleven times the silver nisab above. Scholars differ on which to use, so follow the guidance you trust.
What this calculator doesn't cover
It covers the common forms of wealth. Rulings differ for things like pensions, shares, property held for sale, crops and livestock, and jewellery worn regularly. For your own situation, ask a scholar or your local zakat authority.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I have to type the gold and silver prices?
So the nisab is right for your country and today's market. We never fetch prices, which keeps everything on your device and lets you use any currency.
Should I include gold jewellery I wear?
Scholars differ: the Hanafi school includes it, while the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools generally exempt jewellery that is worn regularly. Enter it if the guidance you follow includes it.
What counts as debts?
Debts that are due now or within the year, such as a loan instalment or a bill. Long-term debts like the full remaining mortgage are usually not subtracted in full.
Is my information stored?
No. The amounts you enter stay on your device and are not sent anywhere.
