How it works
- Tap Choose file and pick a PDF.
- Choose the position (top or bottom; left, centre or right), the format and the size.
- Set the starting number, and tick the box to leave the cover page unnumbered if needed.

Why number pages here
Your PDF never leaves your phone or computer. It is free, with no watermark and no sign-up, and the original pages are kept as they are: text stays selectable and images are not re-compressed.
Position, size and margins
Numbers sit about 10 mm (28 points) from the edge of the page, inside the border most printers can't print on. Bottom centre is the usual choice for reports and theses; top or bottom right suits documents printed on one side. Medium is 11 points, like normal footnote text; small (9 pt) is discreet and large (14 pt) is easy to read in presentations. Pages turned sideways get their numbers in the right place as the page is read.
Covers and starting numbers
Tick "Don't number the first page" to leave a cover or title page blank: numbering then starts on page 2 with your starting number, and "of 10" counts only the numbered pages. Set a starting number other than 1 when the PDF continues another document, for example 25 for the second chapter of a thesis.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit or remove the numbers later?
The numbers are added as part of each page, like a stamp, so they are not editable text. Keep your original PDF if you might want a different numbering later.
Are the numbers in my language?
The "Page 1 of 10" format uses the language of this page, and digits are written the way this language writes them. "1" and "1 / 10" work in any document.
Can I number a password-protected PDF?
Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, using the password you know, then add the numbers to the unlocked copy.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device.
