How it works

Why watermark here

Documents you watermark are usually the ones you don't want to upload: IDs, statements, contracts. Here the PDF never leaves your device. It is free, with no sign-up and no mark of ours added.

Choosing a style

A single diagonal mark across the middle is the classic DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL look and leaves the text readable. Tiled repeats a smaller mark over the whole page, so it can't be cropped off a screenshot, which is a good choice for copies of ID cards and passports you send to a company. Light (15% opacity) keeps the page easy to read; strong (50%) is hard to ignore. The size follows each page: medium text is 8% of the page's short side, about 48 points on A4.

Any language, and what a watermark can't do

Your text is drawn by your browser, so Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese and every other script appear correctly, joined and in the right direction. The watermark becomes part of each page and can't be selected or edited like normal text, which makes it harder to remove, though not impossible: someone with editing software can still cover it. To stop people opening the file at all, add a password with Protect PDF.

Frequently asked questions

What should I write on a copy of my ID?

Say who it is for and why, with the date, for example "Copy for XYZ Bank account opening, 30 Sep 2026". A copy marked this way is much less useful to anyone who misuses it. Use tiled so it covers the whole card.

Does the watermark change the rest of the PDF?

No. The original text, images and links stay as they were; the mark is added on top of each page.
