Calculate a sale price after discount

Enter a price and a discount to see the price you pay and how much you save. Add a second discount to see what 'an extra 10% off' is really worth.

Calculations run on this device. We don't see, store or log the amounts you enter.

How it works

  1. Enter the original price.
  2. Enter the discount in percent, and a second discount if there is one.
  3. Read the final price, the amount saved and the total discount.

How discounts are calculated

Final price = price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). 25% off 80 is 80 × 0.75 = 60, a saving of 20.

Stacked discounts are not added together

A second discount applies to the already reduced price: 20% off and then an extra 10% off 200 gives 200 × 0.8 × 0.9 = 144. That is 28% off in total, not 30%.

Discount or bigger quantity?

'Buy 2, get 1 free' is a 33% discount on each item, but only if you need three. Compare the final price per item, not the headline percentage.

Frequently asked questions

Does the order of two discounts matter?

No. 20% then 10% and 10% then 20% give the same final price.

How do I find the original price?

Divide the sale price by what is left: 60 after 25% off was 60 ÷ 0.75 = 80.

Does it include sales tax or VAT?

No. Apply tax to the final price separately; the percentage calculator can help.
